“She’s unbelievable – Everything she does, she does with total dominance.”

Australia’s leading mare Miss Andretti virtually wrapped up this year’s Global Sprint Challenge with another devastating win in today’s Group 1 Timbercorp Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

The mare, starting one of the shortest favourites in a Group 1 race in recent history, justified the $1.55 quote with an impressive win and gave trainer Lee Freedman his first success in the race.

Jockey Craig Newitt had the mare positioned midfield among runners early but when she pushed into the clear before the turn the result was almost a forgone conclusion again.

Showing her usual burst of acceleration, the mare quickly raced past Any Suggestion, who battled on gamely as he did in the Lightning to place, while Rewaaya, who was three deep for most of the trip, worked home strongly into third.

With successive Group 1 wins in the Lightning and now Australia Stakes, Miss Andretti has now won the first two legs of the Global Sprint Challenge and it will take a mighty performance to beat her from here with just five legs of the series to go – two in the UK, two in Japan and one in Hong Kong.
